Students, welcome to our Buckeye family!

To the Newest Members of Buckeye Nation:

The Ohio State New York City Alumni Club is delighted that you have accepted your offer of admission and will begin your collegiate journey in Columbus in just a few short weeks.

While you will face challenges unlike those experienced by any of the 150 classes who have preceded you on campus, you will also find yourself presented with many unique opportunities. Through your academic pursuits and volunteerism, you will assuredly create a future that is healthier, more sustainable, and more equitable for all.

Most importantly, you will not be undertaking this mission alone. While you may not yet have learned the words to our alma mater, Carmen Ohio, there is a line that perfectly encapsulates what it means to be a Buckeye – “how firm thy friendship”. As you arrive on campus you will find many new friends in your residence hall and classes, however, these friendships are just the beginning.

When you made the fateful decision to become a Buckeye, you immediately developed a timeless connection with over 500,000 Ohio State alumni located around the world. It is with this in mind that we address you today. The members of the New York City Alumni Club are eager to serve as a resource to you throughout your time as a student and beyond.

Our club is extremely active and hosts numerous programs throughout the year. We welcome current students at all of our events so if you happen to be in town, please do not hesitate to join us. If you would like to receive periodic emails regarding our upcoming programs, we encourage you to share your contact information via the link provided by the university.

We have also created a first-of-its-kind mentoring program for students who come to New York City during the summer to complete internships or academic programs. Since its inception in 2019, the Summer Fellowship Program has assisted over 30 students by pairing them with mentors and providing cost of living stipends. Applications for the upcoming summer open in January.

In closing, please accept once more our sincere congratulations on your many accomplishments to date and know that your New York City Buckeye family stands ready to celebrate your many successes yet to come.

Yours Truly,

The Ohio State NYC Alumni Board
